The Cousteau Society acquired a PBY Catalina 6A and fully outfitted her to serve as an airborne reconnaissance tool and mobil diving platform. The plane was outfitted for complete dive operations. The "Flying Calypso" was a favorite of its pilot Philippe Cousteau. Tragically Philippe, a very accomplished pilot, lost his life while piloting this aircraft in 1979.
